Ice-Cream Festival Became a Real Holiday for Children from Balbulak and Zhanuya
On 11 June 2011, the Ice-Cream Festival was held in the Central Rest Park timed to the Children Protection Day. The holiday, which was organized by Bravo Plus Company was attended not only by families from Almaty, but also by children from Children's Homes and Boarding Schools, and Dara Foundation's wards - Zhanuya Specialized Complex and Balbulak Rehabilitation Center.

On May 31, on the threshold of the International Day of Protection of Children, the Management of the Kazakh State Circus presented 300 tickets to Dara Foundation's wards.
Emotional Impulse to the Day of Protection of Children
On May 30, Askhat, a private entrepreneur and a friend of Dara Foundation, decided to make a surprise to boys from Children's Homes and to those who are undergoing a long course of treatment in the medical institutions. Askhat presented 60 Lego Bionicle meccanos to the Regional Children's Home and 3, 4 Departments of the Research Institute of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery.
Operation Smile” Changes Children’s Lives
"Operation Smile" International Medical Charitable Campaign was held from 23 to 25 of May in Novosibirsk. During this event which was held in Novosibirsk for the seventh time, children with dentofacial anomalies, including five infants from Almaty Boarding School №9 for Children with Severe Speech Disorder, were treated free-of-charge.
Meyirim Lights Stars
On the threshold of the International Day of Protection of Children, the III Children's Crafts Festival "Meyirim Lights Stars" was held in Almaty, where over 1500 children from the Special Boarding Schools and Children's Homes of the city participated. The dancing group from the Special Boarding School №9 won third place at the dancing contest which was held during the Festival.

Thanks to the La Danza dance studio, the children from the Zhanuya specialized institute have been given a ticket to the world of dance. Every Tuesday and Thursday Anton Monastyrev, two-time silver medalist at the Kazakhstan ballroom dancing competition, gives the children dancing lessons.
Boarding School №9 Competes with Professional Dancers as Equals
On April 23-24, New Dance Session Festival was held in Almaty among the professional dancers. The dancing collective from the Special Boarding School №9 for Children with Severe Speech Disorder compete with experienced dancers on equal terms and could win third place in "Juniors" nomination.
Alisher Karimov as a Present!
It was rarely indeed that Rakhim Ashirov's birthdays were really a holiday. "This day was very boring. There was nothing special on the table, and presents were never given to me", Rakhim said. "However, this morning, I got up in a cheerful mood. I felt that my dreams will come true today: a mobile phone will be presented to me, and Alisher Karimov will come to see me".

Within the "Healthy Living" project, pupils from our sponsored specialised school "Zhanuya" visited "Pinocchio" Roller Club. For many of the children skating was not so difficult: some of the boys' and girls' stunts surprised even the experts! Kolya learned to do a snake, for instance, and Rakhim - pivots.
Our football team - silver medallists!
In late March, the city of Kostanai hosted the National mini-football championship among athletes with hearing disorders, in honour of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence.
Our football team "Almaty" was awarded a silver medal in this competition, losing only to the home team.
